Step 2: Admission Requirements
You must fulfil the admission requirements described below.
Please go to Step 3: Required Documentation to see the specific deadlines for uploading the required documents.
A bachelor's degree equivalent to a Danish bachelor's degree
Please note: Roskilde University estimates that a tt备用网址 of Honours (4 years) from Bangladesh is equivalent to either a Danish academic tt备用网址's degree or a Danish professional tt备用网址's degree, see the above-mentioned website.
As of the admission round for September 2025, Roskilde University considers a tt备用网址 of Honours (4 years) from a university-affiliated college to be equivalent to a Danish professional bachelor's degree.
If you have a tt备用网址 of Honours (4 years) from a university-affiliated college, you will not be admitted without prerequisite studies if you apply for one of the master's programmes that require specific courses that correspond in level to at least the first year of a Danish university programme.
Please note that you can only take prerequisite studies if you have a residence permit for Denmark that is valid for the entire duration of the prerequisite courses.
Specific admission requirements are listed under each master’s programme.
Find the specific master's programme that you are interested in, and select "Admission requirements".
Then go to "If your degree is not pre-approved (specific admission requirements)".
Here you will also find information on whether or not the master's programme you are interested in offers prerequisite studies. Please note that the offer of prerequisite studies varies from one admission round to the next.
Specific admission requirements related to the relevant master’s programme
Your bachelor’s degree must fulfil specific admission requirements relevant for the specific master’s programme. Specific admission requirements are listed under each master’s programme. Some bachelor’s programmes have been pre-approved as qualifying for admission to RUC master’s programmes taught in English. Pre-approved programmes are listed under each master’s programme and in the admission guide.
The Admissions Office will assess if the academic content of your educational background gives you the necessary qualifications required for admission to a specific master’s programme. This is based on an individual, academic assessment.
You will be assessed based on:
- A degree equivalent to a Danish bachelor's degree
- Study elements equivalent to Danish bachelor’s level taken before completing your bachelor's degree - e.g. additional courses where you obtain ECTS/credits taken concurrently with your bachelor's degree or study elements passed at another bachelor's degree that you have not completed. However, we will only include a maximum of 30 ECTS from these studies.
Furthermore, as of the admission round with study start 1 September 2026 and henceforth you will also be assessed based on additional selection criteria.
Selection criteria
Please note that as of the admission round with study start 1 September 2026 and henceforth there will be a limitation of study places on all English taught master’s programmes at Roskilde University. This means that in addition to fulfilling the general and specific admission requirements you will also be assessed based on selection criteria specific for the programme that you apply for admission to. Selection criteria are listed under each master’s programme.
The criteria do not apply to bachelors with a legal claim, as they are still guaranteed admission to the master's programme for which they have a legal claim. The selection criteria apply to applicants that hold one of the preapproved bachelor’s degrees as listed under each master’s programme.
Summer Prerequisite Studies
If you lack essential qualifications that amount to no more than 10 ECTS points in order to fulfil the specific admission requirements, you may be offered admission on the condition that you complete summer prerequisite studies first.
You can read more about whether you may be eligible to be offered summer prerequisite studies here.
English language requirement
Applicants for the master’s programmes taught in English or in Danish must fulfil the English language requirements.
Below you can read about how to fulfil the English language requirement, either by an English test or through a Danish or European high school diploma.
From the admission round of 2025/2026 with study start in September 2026, documentation for the fulfillment of the English language requirement must be uploaded by the application deadline. Please note that your application may be rejected if you do not upload valid documentation of your English proficiency by the application deadline.
Please note that the required test scores have been changed without notice for the September 2026 intake, in accordance with the current Ministerial Order on Admission to Full-time University Degree Programmes and Master's Degree Programmes for Working Professionals.

Your upper secondary education diploma with English at B-level or English B as a supplementary subject fulfill the English language requirement and must be uploaded with your application.
If you hold a bachelor’s degree taught in Danish or English from Roskilde University, you have already documented your English proficiency when you were admitted to your bachelor's degree. Therefore, you do not need to upload documentation for your English language skills.

Your upper secondary education diploma from an EU/EEA or Nordic country or your IB/EB diploma may be sufficient to fulfil the requirement of English at Danish B-level. We must note that this is an academic assessment that will be made together with your application of admission.
This means that if we assess that your upper secondary education, IB or EB diploma does not fulfil the English language requirement, your application for admission will be rejected on that ground. You will not be able to send one of the tests listed above after we have made an academic assessment in which we may find that the level of your upper secondary education from an EU, EEA or Nordic country or your IB/EB diploma is insufficient.
Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to get a pre-assessment of your upper secondary education, IB or EB diploma from the admissions office.
Please note that we need to receive the documentation when you submit your application for admission.
How to document your number of hours of instruction
If you choose to take up the option of documenting your English proficiency through a European upper secondary education diploma, you need to submit a verification form with your diploma to document the number of hours of instruction in the subject English. Your school must fill in how many hours of instruction (60 minutes) you have had in the subject English during the final three years of your upper secondary education. The verification form must be filled in, stamped and signed by your school in order to be accepted.
Verification form for European upper secondary education diplomas: Documentation of English at Danish B-level (pdf)
Assessment of your subject levels from your upper secondary education is based on a comparison to the specific subject levels in the Danish upper secondary school system. This comparison is, among other things, based on the number of hours of instruction you have had in the required subjects.
In general, the Admissions Office at Roskilde University usually considers the number of hours of instruction from the last three years of your upper secondary education. This does not apply in cases where not all three years are considered equivalent to the Danish upper secondary education level.
In the conversion tables below, you can find information on how we assess subject levels from International Baccalaureates and Nordic high school exams.
Conversion table of subjects from an International Baccalaureate (IB)
Applicants with an IB can consult the conversion table that compares IB subjects with the Danish subject levels, which follows the guidelines set by the Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education.
Please note: The conversion table is revised in the Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education’s handbook of international exams (only in Danish) each year in the beginning of March. Therefore, changes to the conversion table may occur shortly before the application deadline.- Conversion table of subjects from a Nordic entry qualification
Applicants with a Nordic high school exam can consult the conversion table that compares subjects from Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland with the Danish subject levels.
Please note: The conversion table is revised in the Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education’s handbook of international exams (only in Danish) each year in the beginning of March. Therefore, changes to the conversion table may occur shortly before the application deadline.

Danish language requirement
Applicants for the master’s programmes taught in Danish must also fulfil the Danish language requirement. It can be documented as follows:
Danish bachelor's degree from a Danish University
If you hold a bachelor’s degree taught in Danish from a Danish university (Roskilde University, University of Copenhagen, Aalborg University, University of Southern Denmark, Aarhus University, Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen Business School or the IT University of Copenhagen), you have already documented your Danish proficiency when you were admitted to your bachelor's degree.
Other ways to document your Danish language skills:
? A course in Danish at Danish A-level
? The Danish proficiency test "Studiepr?ven". Courses for this test are offered at Studieskolen.
Have you already completed a master’s degree?
You can only start on a new master’s programme if there are vacant places on the relevant programme. This applies regardless of whether you have completed a master’s degree from Denmark or any other country as long as the programme is assessed as being at the same level as a Danish master’s degree.
If you would like to apply for admission to any new master’s programme, you should apply within the usual deadlines. When we receive your application, we will check whether there are vacant places on the relevant programme. You can apply for an exemption from the rules if you have exceptional reasons for not being able to use your original master’s degree in the labour market any longer.
You should upload your application for exemption together with your application for admission.
